A few months ago I submitted works to the Pushing Print arts organisation, who are dedicated to promoting printmaking in its many diverse forms. I was fortunate enough to have two prints selected for their annual exhibition.
Gill Saunders Senior Curator of Print V&A & Ian Brown from Volcanic Editions were exhibition selectors.
The Pushing Print Exhibition 2012 features work by 70 local, national & international artists whose works explore & challenge traditional ideas about print.
A great weekend of art promoting the very varied mediums of expression in rural Kent.
I exhibited four of my more traditional pieces. It was a successful weekend.
Folk Week is a celebration of music, dance, and the spoken word & of course art. The quiet seaside town has a real buzz for the week.
There is a special Art & Music Fair with a huge variety of ceramics, bespoke clothing, musical instrument, paintings, jewellery and gifts. It is situated in Victoria Gardens on the cliff tops.
It was a huge gamble being a 7 day show but was a great success with many sales during the week & in the following months.
Very exciting! Displaying my Bread n Butter Pop Art affordable range.
Wanted to give art lovers the chance to buy small unique canvases at a reasonable price.
Trialled a small selection of my 6"x 6" screen printed canvases with great success at the February Southend Fair
This December I held a joint exhibition with fellow SEE Artist Mark Paul Perry. This was a great opportunity to show case my current work which has taken more of a political interest inspired by recent events associated with Britain’s economic challenges & the hidden corruption within the media & Government.
The private view was a fantastic collection of artists, collectors & press.
The content of the works inspired discussion throughout the evening & increased viewing throughout the week.
The People Pile presented "The Launch" at St. John’s Hall, London Bridge; a one day collaboration between Fine artists, Expressive Dance, Music & Dance film.
I was invited to contribute several pieces to the event as well as a short film demonstrating my practice.
The pieces selected for the exhibition where a collection of nudes depicting love, sexuality & exposure.
Short films where shown throughout the day & evening. Live performers included The Square Peg Company, freestyle tap, live music as well as a short diversion from The People Pile dancers.
Photographs of the event can be viewed at www.thepeoplepile.co.uk or visit my Facebook page under Artist Aurora Bain
The Windsor Fair proved to be rewarding for both myself & the Prince’s Trust Charity. I sold several pieces & was given an invitation to exhibit in Holland this summer. The Trust received over £3000 from the sale of artists donated work.
Spending three days interacting with other professional artists discussing art & sharing experiences made this weekend.
All in all The Sixth Windsor Art fair was a great success for everyone.
With an open bar, live DJ, a group of graffiti artists/illustrators creating live pieces, & a great eclectic selection of contemporary art works, the night was a massive success. Some of the organisers donated works for a charity raffle. For those who rushed straight from work there were Indian savouries & the Ice Angels passed out mini ice cream cones from their bespoke trays. There was a great buzz throughout the three room venue & with it being full to capacity, the opening hours were extended. The work ranged from traditional oil on canvas to brass sculptures & works with political & social messages.
After the big opening night the exhibition was open for a further 10 days with many pieces selling.
Recently completed a triptych for a client who wished to commemorate the passing of a friend. The brief was very specific on flower type & colour scheme as the client wished for the triptych to complement her interior design.
Adding to an already busy month I will be exhibiting at Windsor Contemporary Art Fair with over 100 UK & international exhibitors. With works including original paintings, photography, drawings, limited edition prints, sculpture & glasswork.
The fair showcases contemporary & fine art at its best from both well established names & new talent.

Photo of myself with one of the first investors of the evening who purchased “We Buy Gold” Thank you so much for everyone’s support over the “Peeling Layers” long weekend. It was a great success, with over 80 guests attending during the 2 hour private view & many more over the weekend. The Mayor & Mayoress of Margate were present at the private function, with the Mayor giving an inspirational speech on the night.
Tracey Emin‘s installation drew large crowds which was great publicity for the new Turner Contemporary.
Many Margate galleries & studio’s also had open evenings making it a real celebration for art in Margate.
It was a successful night all round with me selling four works & more sales followed after the event.
Peeling Layrer’s was the largest solo exhibition over the weekend with most sales coming from one individual artist.
The Big Art weekend for Margate has arrived & the newspapers are full of Tracey Emin. I was mention in several newspapers:
